Track Training Tips No. 43

How to get ahead with £19.3 billion

If the current difficult trading conditions were not enough to cope with then the following report from the Chartered Management Institute really focuses the mind on the need for Learning and Development to be a ‘given’ during conversations at the ‘top table’.

The following are key points taken from the survey:

  • Three quarters of workers waste almost two hours a week due to inefficient managers
  • This is an average of £900 per employee per year
  • This leads to a total cost for UK plc of £19.3 billion

The worst management practices were:

  • Unclear communications 33%
  • Lack of support 33%
  • Micro management 26%
  • Lack of direction 25%

Leaders and managers have to become great jugglers! And the three balls that you have to juggle are – Things, Processes and People.

Guess which one ends up on the floor the most? Guess which one has the greatest potential to help your business grow?

Suggestion: using the figures above work out how much your business is losing each week – then give me a call (and in my opinion I would put that figure of 2 hours a week much closer to 5!).
